about

With three significant albums under their belt, the Irish band SANDSTONE has firmly established itself in the European Power-Progressive Metal league. Their 2009 album, "Purging The Past" even managed to rouse the interest of the Iron Maiden frontman, Bruce Dickinson, which he confirmed when he said that it "was the most impressive album to come out of Ireland for years" - and it is very hard to argue with that connoisseur of the scene. So in order to cement the album's reputation, they added another layer with the following album, "Cultural Dissonance" and the international metal press honoured it with very good to excellent reviews. Now, just two years later, their fourth work, "Delta Viridian" is ready for release which again shows a band which does not accept musical stagnation and which shows itself much more mature than on the excellent predecessor. The cleverly designed mixture of Power and Progressive elements with a large dose of melody attract comparison with the greats of the scene, such as Fates Warning, Queensryche, Pagan's Mind, Symphony X and Vanden Plas. SANDSTONE have widened their songwriting horizon and "Delta Viridian" underlines this rise in quality with twelve excellently prepared metal hymns. Musically the album moves along the fine line between Power Metal, Progressive Rock and includes groovy Hard Rock elements, as could be heard on the preceding works, but with a tad more fine tuning. With this, their fourth album, SANDSTONE give the fans a perfectly prepared album, which will make not only fans of progged metal structures happy, but also those who prefer fisty, hard compositions. Vocal freaks will be thrilled by Sean McBay's superb performance and all these components together result in a fantastic sounding, tight, high quality metal album without equal. SANDSTONE have mastered their next step with no problems.

about

Sandstone Londonderry, UK

If you're hailing from Derry / North Ireland and you're in a band, of course the usual cliché bands spring to mind: Thin Lizzy, Rory Gallagher, Gary Moore, U2... What have all these outfits in common? They're no real Metal bands. SANDSTONE, though, could change this status pretty soon. ... more
